In a Rocklabs “Combo”, two machines or devices are connected so a sample goes through as one process.
In the Boyd-RSD combo, a sample is loaded into a Boyd Crusher and crushed finely before being transported
to the Rotating Sample Divider (RSD) via a vibratory feeder. The RSD stands alongside the Boyd Crusher and
splits out a pre-set portion for pulverising.
The “Combo” reduces human handling errors, increases sample output, improves sample quality and reduces labour
costs.
The “Combo” is produced in batches to minimise manufacturing cost, but there can be some modifications
to suit customer’s special need. For example a Boyd-RSD combo normally has the RSD on the right of the crusher
but this can be reversed. Another example will be having a mechanical lifting device for loading sample into
the crusher’s sample chute.
The CRM-RSD is another combo unit, combining pulverizing and splitting into one
single process. It is the same principal as the Boyd-RSD combo, but has a different style of rotary sample divider.
The latest development of the SMART Boyd-RSD combo, integrates a Boyd-RSD combo with a balance and a PLC, to
control the splitting of the sample. It gives an accurate and consistent split weight regardless of the sample
input weight. This ensures that the following pulveriser receives the optimum weight of the sample.
